SAMUEL R. YELVERTON, MD, is board certified in general surgery. He sees both elective and acute care general surgery patients at Lakewood Ranch Medical Center. He performs all aspects of general surgery, including minimally invasive and da Vinci® robotic surgery.

His areas of expertise include:

• Robotic hernia surgery, including inguinal (groin), ventral, umbilical and incisional hernias

• Complex abdominal wall reconstruction

• Robotic anti-reflux and foregut surgery

• Surgery for colorectal disease, including benign and malignant tumors and hemorrhoids

• Robotic gallbladder, liver, spleen, and adrenal surgery

• Management of benign and malignant breast and skin disease

• EGD, a procedure to examine the esophagus, stomach and duodenum; and Colonoscopy

• Thyroid and Parathyroid surgery

Dr. Yelverton earned his medical degree at the University of Mississippi School of Medicine in Jackson. He completed his general surgery residency at the Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, North Carolina.
